In 2015 seven National Portfolio Organisations in the South West participated in an Arts Council of England funded pilot project which placed an artist or cultural practitioner (called an agent) within their organisation for a limited period of time. During that time the agents worked across each organisation with staff to explore and encourage practical approaches to developing more diverse organisations.
Members of the pilot project will present a discursive session sharing their learning and will discuss the practical processes they used. Experiences will be shared from both the organisations and agents perspectives.
This session seeks to engage the audience in an inspiring discussion around how to develop and create conditions for diversity to flourish within cultural organisations and to develop more equal cultural spaces for the future.
The session will be led by Ayla Suveren, Agents for Change Project Coach.
Participating members include (subject to change):
Hilary Bracegirdle, Plymouth Museum and Gallery
Joon Lynn Goh
Ruth Kapadia, Arts Council England
Louisa Adjoa Parker
Dick Penny, Watershed
Emma Stenning, Bristol Old Vic
Jenny Wingfield, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra
